A lfs has a 4 inch flowerhorn marked for $40. The manager said he would sell him to me for 20 since hes too aggressive and attacks everything he puts him with, so he wants to sell him quickly. Hes really not showing much color besides some red around his gills. My question is will he develop better coloration as he matures or do flowerhorns usually already show thier colors at this size?

its really hard to tell without knowing where it came from. Do you have any pix for examples?

it all depends on the genes of the individual flowerhorn, but many will continue to improve in color up to ~8" or so. diet will also play a part in how much color he winds up getting. foods high in astaxathin (found in krill, shrimp etc) can help bring out better reds in the fish. :)

It would be hard to tell without knowing what the parents looked like, but you can sometimes get a good idea on what he is going to look like by the time he is that size.

hope you could post pics bro so we could help you assess this fh.
fh are territorial in nature, meaning they would fight for territories.. anything he find alien in his territory he'll fight it (even your hands or net) ;)
