So I'm considering a wet pet for my 80 gallon tank. Currently has Angel's and other peaceful cichlids plus a bristlnose, candy and 3 beacon pleco. Tank has gravel and driftwood with lots of different kind of anubias attached to the wood. I'd like to keep the plecos in there with the FH. Any chance the FH will leave them alone if I start with a grow out at around 2" and he grows up with them. Also how hard are they on tough plants like anubis. The plants are all fully attached with their roots to the wood.

Should be fine with plecos it depends on the fish If you grow them out together this mostly works all the time.

Agreed the plecos should be ok if they've grown up together, I had a big ZZ Dragon that tolerated them in same situation, but good idea to take out the peaceful cichlids and Angels as it sounds like you're planning to do, they'd most likely get beaten or stressed to death when the Flowerhorn starts to take on some size and gets more territorial, even if they grew up together (unless perhaps in a very big tank like 300g+).

About plants it can go either way IME, one of those you-don't-know-til you try things. If he's ok with them that would be great, will help with nitrates and FH while maybe not quite on Oscar level are eating/pooping machines. Good luck, and I can almost assure you will soon love any FH you might get, just be ready for their often hyper-territorial nature :)

Ok I might give it a shot after I sell all the other fish. I have experience with large Centrals since I also have a 180 gallon tank. I've kept close to 30 different central American species including Midas, Viejas, Jags,...... just never a FH
