Hey everyone. Still a noob at flowerhorns but getting better. Here's a post about one of my flowerhorns getting ducklips.http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/fo...d-Or-Just-Wait. Well, after reading post after post I decided to use Metro Plus and Maracyn. I had the fish in a 20 gallon quarantine tank but hard objects and fish tanks don't mix. Anyways, the tank had a crack about 3 inches from the top so I made it into a 10 gallon tank so I wouldn't have to calculate the medication for 15 gallons. Reading about the high percentage of death rates, I had little hope. So he was in a 10 gallon tank with 1 tablespoon of salt per 5 gallons. Put in a airstone and set the temperature to 75. Everyday I changed 5 gallons of water, added 1 tablespoon of salt and 1 capfull of metro and 1 packet of Maracyn. On the 3rd day he started to look much better. Then I realized that I had the correct amount of salt right but each capfull of metro plus and each packet of Maracyn was for 10 gallons which means I was putting in medication for 15 gallons of water instead of for 10. Since he started to get better I just continued to do that. Now it's day 7. He's been looking well since day 5 but I wanted to keep him on what I was doing until the last packet of Maracyn (there's 8). I really want to put him back into his tank now but I'm trying very hard to wait 1 more day. He's attacking everything, heater, airstone, siphon hose, my hand, whatever I move. The first 2 pictures are how he looked with ducklips and the last 3 are how he looks now. I'm not saying that the medications and the amounts I used will definitely cure ducklips but it won't hurt to try since the deathrate is so high. Good luck.
