flowerhorn 20gal tankmates?

I got a FH at around 1-2inches in a 20gal growout right now. Planning to keep him there for 4-6 months until I save enough for a larger tank. In the meantime, what are some good tank mates for him (or her)?

Currently have 2 spotted cory's in there just for kicks. Corys are about 2 inches.

Can I add anything else in there? Prefer something colorful that'll remain small and be kept in a 20gal for its lifetime.

Well, the 20g will work for a growout till about 3-4" then it needs to be upgraded, ps that will happen in less time then your 6 month plan, honestly your 20g shouldnt have any more fish until you upgrade the flowerhorn to a new tank, when you do that, then come ask for stocking advice for a 20g

If you are planning to upgrade soon you can overstock the tank with parrots and have the one fh be the dominant. This will only work if you filter the HELL out of it though and do several water changes a week. this is what I do but i am trying to pair fh with 100% female parrots

there can't be a big male parrot in there though

you can't put just one parrot in there either allthough some ppl do this, it will eventually be killed. if you put like 5 female parrots in there the same size as ur fh or slightly bigger it could work

o yea ur cories will eventually be killed as well. You will need a bigger tank regardless but I find 20s are good growout tanks for a single fh
