how long could a 1-2 in flowerhorn live in a 20gal buy his /her self with weekly water changes.

I don't know how people can think that it is unethical.
Some people keep really large fish, which have even less space to move even in the larger tanks.

Relatively speaking that little flowerhorn will have lots of space for a while.

Yup... maybe 4 but I wouldn't push it.

you can probably push it until about 5-6" but that is about it if you want to make sure there is no stunting or things like that

3-6 months depends on it's growth. I wouldn't push it if it reaches over 5".

what does a male usually max at..and would a 55 be good for live?

For a single speciment I'd say a 75 for life as a minimum. Esp. if it is a male
