Hello
I am curious about the average life expectancy of Flowerhorn fish , since I too own one. I know it depends on various factors in terms of care and food , but if anyone in general could help me out on this I would be grateful. Thanks in advance

I asked the same question on this forum once and got several responses. Most agreed 3-5 years on average because of genetic reasons though some can live up to 10 years on occasion.

I have a feeling 3-5 years is because of the diet and how fat most are kept, not as much genetics...

I'm sure if flowerhorns were kept at a trim weight and not over fed, they'd live much longer than 3-5 years!

Mine have grown so much in the year and a half I've had them, I can't imagine the monstrosity they will be if they live 10plus years at this rate. That's why i'm guessing mine will just go the 3 to 6years that many people say. Lots of trial n error right now with me in my rookie fh days. Time will tell

Healthier strains should achieve 8-10 years max. The more sensitive strains nowhere near that long. My thai silk lived only about 3 years.
