Hi I've read the pinned post on this. To introduce a fader gene to a flowerhorn the easy way would be to breed a faded flowerhorn to flowerhorn. However if I am trying to do this another way, which fish be the best starting point?
I've done the parrot way and while does produce faded fish most of them turn out not very flowerhorn like. Mostly chunky fish either orange or weak FH markings and a few parrot types.
I've got midevil and FH right now but so far just typical midevil shapes and coloring. Some look like patches of black and signs of fading. None with pearls. In this case female was piebald and male srd. So far most will be good for my snook and Dovii.
Also does it matter which sex is used for the process? Obviously in regards to parrots I can only use females.
