I have quite a bit of Malawi Cichlid frys, around 2-3". I am tired of dealing with people responding on my craigslist ad. when I posted a for sale ad. and later an ad. to give it for free.

Will it be ok to feed my Flowerhorn a steady diet of live fish ?

It should be all right as long as you vary the diet a bit. I find they tend to get bored if you feed them the same thing too often. Mine love Canadian Night Crawlers but I feed them all sorts of things from shrimp to crickets.

No I never feed live and I never recommended it. Pellets, brine shrimp, krill and flakes. Once in a while I will do blood worms

the only real taboo with live feeders is the chance of disease and the often poor nutrition. Being that the fry are raised by you, and they are fed what I imagine is probably quality food, he will be fine to eat these a few times a week. I wouldn't make it an every day thing as stated, but it should be just fine otherwise. Live isn't as taboo as people say.

FH are notorious for having gastrointestinal issues, which later results in a bout of Hexamita aka Spironucleus. For that specific reason, personally I would not feed live feeders to a FH, but that's just me.

As said by all Experts above! II would NOT in for live food! Sorry no vote from me! But thats my personal opinion. Instead, I would feed different varieties of diets including Pallets, FD krill, dried shrimp and bloodworm occasionally. I rather scared on bloodworms though!

Thanks much.

I have since went back to his regular food which consists of shrimp pellets, frozen krill and spirulina flakes. I did feed him the remaining frys I had after I donated lots to folks I met at the local cichlid club.

Really appreciate the info exchange on this MFK forum ... Great folks !!
