Hi.

Well guys it turns out that since I put apart my Flower Horns one of them, the biggets one became sort of shy and skittish, he even is stittish at feeding time, he darts to the surface from time to time, gets some floating pellets and gets back to the bottom or middle of the tank.

He didn't do that when I fed him before, he showed always a fairly outgoing behavior and willing to eat just as there aint no tomorrow...now he behaves as if he were depressed and as he feared something in water surface.... what should it be the reason for that change in behavior?

He doesnt show stress bars, so I guess there's no a water problem he has 2 filters and I do perform 35% weekly WC....I have tryed for ammonia and readings are 0.

Other than that he looks ok but it is just that I liked him the most when he was even willing to take food from my very same fingers now he is scared of I dont know what....

Have anyone of you guys experienced something similar with your fish?. I modified his setup re-arranging everything when I put the other in his own setup (I had two in the same tank with an spliter on it before). Could this be a factor??.

Cheers.

He could feel like he's in a new environment which would explain the skittishness. Just give him a couple days. I also suggest bumping the water changes to at least 50% a week for FH's. The more, the better. He's eating so you can rule out parasitic issues. I just think the redecoration just put him in a bad mood.

Give him some time... A trick I use with aggressive species (CA or African) is to leave a mirror near his favorite hangout spot for a little while and watch from a distance... He should begin to fight the reflection, and doing so for short periods should give him more confidence. Great success with flowerhorn, 100% success with shy bettas! Lol good luck
