Hello Guys

Is everything ok with the belly of my SRD flowerhorn?
I am a little bit worried.
He is eating normal but his belly is kind of big and has this strange looking rope-shaped thing....

Very nice SRD you have. I say its normal from my experience a short body SRD will have a more bulged belly due to it being shorter than the normal longer body SRD. This is the first for me to hear about the rope looking under its belly. Hopefully the more experienced members can chime in to assist you.

Here is my short body SRD that has a bulging belly too since @ 2” to now (6”) I thought it was constipated and tried metro, epsom salt for months, soft peas which he hates it to reduce the bugling with no success. He poops normal so I gave up and raised him normally.

Is the circled area the rope looking stuff your saying?
I thought those were genital of the fish, I am not 100% sure though.
I sadly don't have an SRD Flowerhorn as it is really rare and expensive here in NZ. However, I got a Blue Malau from a breeder few weeks ago.
Mine also has a large belly so I also tried lots of different digestive helping food like pea, cucumber, and baby shrimp but the size is still the same.
However, its poop and everything is normal.
So I am not taking the size of its belly too seriously.

First of all thanks your your help....

No I don't mean that thing that you circled....
His poop is now white :(
I will give him an epson salt bath tonight and feed him garlic soaked pellets....
 
small update for you guys... everyday I give him an epsom salt bath... still white poop and he's still not eating :( I ordered clear deworming but it takes some days due the fact that I live in switzerland. I hope he makes it!
 
Hi Mate, I had a similar scenario, where I had to wait, I used Zedrix but ordered CZ Clear at the same time. Now take to ensure I have medications to hand. You should be good, keep up with water changes and Epsom salt. And order some external parasitic treatment for HITH also, and do lots of vacuuming (well daily at the minimum).

In the future I will have the needed medications to hand. Doing water changes weekly and Epsom salt baths daily. Do you know any external parasitic treatment medication? There is nothing to vacuum in the tank....
