i have quite a few red dragon flowerhorns and they are all seperated but they can see each other. i had one that was trying to get to the one next to it but not aggresivley. she turned really black in a vertical pattern and changed bck and forth to normal very quickly. i put the fh next door in with her and covered the tank. i came back around ten hours later and they where both kind of floating almost. there where moving very slow and they wher both changing colors rapidly. they werent fighting and they hdnt been. im new to flowerhorn breeding and need some real help.

i would apreciate any help you could give me. and as soon as possible.

thanks
joe

What do you mean by floating?? asin on their sides at the top?? or mid water just boyant not moving much?? if they are midwater, they are problem tired from either pairing up or fighting...any pics of them...if they are male and female them more than likley worn out form pairing....chances of fry arnt as high as most cichlids due to the man made side of things although its alot higher chance of say blood parrot pairs...pics would help...

i seperated them later that night. im leaving town for abou two weeks and i wouldnt have even been able to tend the mom and fries even if they had come. so i just get too excited and wasnt thinking. i want to be there to take care of them when it happens and not trust someone else to take care of them for me. i worried enough jsut having someone else have to feed them and change water once. they were floating midway and thier wherre no nicks and torn fins so i think that they where not fighting. im having a real hard time evne telling whats male aand female. i cant seem to find anyone real solid wy to find out either.

i appreciate your help and how soon you go back to me. its good to see people wanting to help new keepers. im new to this but im so in love already i cant wait to see whats going to happen. ill put up pix when i try again when i get back. do you know the best food to feed them to help them mture and be as healthy as possible?

i haad another one jump over its divider and into its neighbors tank and aand it got its tail handed to it. but its making a quick recovery and truly looking good in only 12 hours. once they hit 3-5 inches they are just mean as can be!
