Hi guys! Would like to ask any information about breeding Flowerhorns.
Just bought 2 Flowerhorns 2 weeks ago and the crew from the store told me that it's a male and a female flowerhorn but unknown line of breed (or should I say he doesn't know anything about flowerhorn breeds). Was able to do a lot of research over the internet and stumbled to this website.

Okay, here's my question. I have the pictures of my Flowerhorns here and hopefully you guys can tell me if the one on that doesn't have a hump is a female and the other is a male? (Checked the vents and was able to confirm that the one with the hump is a male and the other looks like have a U shape vent and seems to be a female which is also smaller than the male).

Sizes: (Fins included)
With Hump (Male?) : 5"
Small Hump (Female?): 4"

Second question is how could I determine the age of my FH's? based on the size or appearance since the the people from the store was not able to give me specific answers.

Third, how old or big should the female start to lay eggs?

Any response will be highly appreciated. Thanks!

This morning, I tried to feed them market prawns but the male didn't like it, so gave the male with Humpy Head pellets but still doesn't want to eat the pellets which is he loves to eat since yesterday.

What could be the possible reason for my male to stop eating? He's still moving around the tank as usual. Don't think he's full since was not able to feed him for 9-10 hrs(Overnight).

Just did a 40% water change and my FH started to eat after few minutes. Thanks. Anyway, any idea on what kind of FH do I have? It's one of my biggest questions. Thanks again.

Nice zz you have there.

As far as age goes it could be a bit hard to determine depending on how long the LFS had them and in what size tank and their diet.

If you see the tube come out then for sure you have yourself a female. Be careful though as your female could possibly kill your male especially if they are similar in size.
