I have a pair of flowerhorn and I want them to breed, both are living peacfully in the same tank and dancing with other. The tempreture of tank is around 28, using Sponge Filter and I have put one flat plate. most of the time I saw that male spend his time near this plate and also cleaning. Is this the sign of breeding? or what have to do?

How big are they? how big is the tank? the male and the female will start cleaning and re arranging their chosen area over and over. this could go on for a week before they actually spawn. are their egg tubes down? what u have to be careful for and this is why tank size is important is aggression from the male to the female. a bit of chasing is fine even lip locking but you dont want to wait until hes chsaing her and backing her into corners to nip at her.

If the male is cleaning it then they're prepping for egg laying. The female should start cleaning the plate as well. Give them some time. I find it that FH's like to breed in dim lights. I suggest when the eggs are laid and fertilized that you remove the male and leave the female to watch over the eggs. After the eggs start hatching/wriggling, remove the plate and raise the fry separately. Good luck.

The size of male is around 25cm and female is approx 21cm, Tank size 90cm x 46cm x 46cm. Their eggs tubes are also visible. I have already covered the walls of tank with black sheet to give them privacy. The aggression of male towards female not much most of the time I found them near the plate (Pot).

If they are really to breed then how many days they will take in this activity?

Could be 1 Day could be two weeks. also mines always spawn at night even with the tank lights on. if u want to urge it along do some random cold water changes. i usually put my heater to the temp a few degress hotter than my tap water then do a 30% water change with cold tap water. this will mimic their rainy season and breeding season. just watch for agression cause even if they are buddy buddy now the male can snap and turn on the female.
