Flowerhorn change colour from dark to yellow

How could this possibly happen? my fish change colour ? This is no usual change as cause by stress etc.
last pic taken recently and i believe it still have not fully develope the new colour..

It went through/is going through the process of fading, has to do with the amphilophus genes if I recall correctly but I'm no expert, looks good though.
 
Yup. Some flowerhorns, like yours aka fader, have a gene that when they are growing their colour fade to a golden base. This is because the gene in the wild would allow them to change very dark to camouflage in to protect them. Once they are older they change again when they can defend their self. In tanks this isn't the case and is just an active gene that some people like and others dislike

It just faded. Mine did that. All his beautiful color and markings disappeared. Pissed me off.
