Both male and female flowerhorns can be really colorful. I would say the Red Texas or Platinum strains are the most colorful though!

Both are colorful but sometimes males will be most colorful and they also have a larger hump on there head

It will depends on the origin of the fish, dont forget it is hybryd it cross from many kinds of cichlids.

And most of the FH fishes male is most colorful and with the additional larger head bump

I would say male.. they tend to show more of their colors due to breeding and when they show their aggression..also in the animal kingdom the male are more colorful than the female.. becuase they need their colors to attract the opposite sex... but bout who is who in male or female having more colors.. i would say GENETICS.. if you breed dull low quality fh, you tend to get a higher percentage of a dull fh in color than breedin a pair of pearly colorful fh.. and which fh i think has the most of colours, I would say a wormy pearl GM ..

i agree, both are pretty colorful...but my male turns all kinds of crazy colors, especially when he is excited/pissed about something...males do tend to be more colorful though, given that they are the same kind of FH. plus i like the hump and super long fins that males have. but i've seen dull flowerhorns with drab colors at 3in, turn into multi colored, fin shredding, guppy eating, aggro monsters, when they get to around 5in. and up (like mine)...guess like alot of cics, they get more colorful with age...when FH are small, i can't tell if it's a male or female.
