Color and Kok are determined first by the fish's genetics. Second by the environment that the fish is kept in. Parrot fish can bring out a flowerhorns color because the flowerhorn is trying to show the parrot fish that he is in charge. Kok growth will almost always be biggest when the flowerhorn is by himself. I have had flowerhorn that could see other flowerhorn through a divider and his head stayed small of 6-8 months. Then when he got put into his own tank by himself his head grew so much larger in size.
