ok guys I have now had 3 batches of eggs that have been laid hatched and eaten So with this batch of eggs I took them from thier parents as soon as they got to the wiggler stage , they are now in a 10 gallon with a air hose, the water temp in the tank where the babies are is around 85 is this too warm should i turn the heaT DOWN or keep it the same ?
The water in the 10 gallon is straight from the breeding tank as well , i have hirari first bite fish food for the fry is there something better to use!
i will post a pic as soon as i find my camera !

thanks in advance
Patrick

75-80 should be fine feed often and enough to let them get it but not cloud the water and water changes are key if you want to save alot of fry

brine shrimp would be a much more ideal food than ground flakes/pellets; less uneaten waste produced and its generally more conducive to growth. daphnia would also work well.

but if you dont want to shell out the time and money for that stuff, make sure you do alot of waterchanges and feed them well with the nonlive food you're using.

whenever i have fry to feed i use this stuff called cyclop-eez, it is a boi engineered micro-crustacion, comes frozen, isn't too expensive, and according to my lfs it is nutritionally complete for fry. i feed them 4-5 times a day and they grow like mad. they also have excellent colors and are very active. with this food and some brine shrimp once a day i can usually keep 75%- 80% of my fry alive. (long enough to grow them to feeder size, 1-2 in)

i am breeding oscars, jags, convicts, discus and angels. only the convicts are feeders.

ok its been a couple of days and the eggs have gone from wigglers to free swimmers all seem to be doing fine ,only one thing seems kind of strange to me
the fry divided into 3 groups ,why is that ?

Ive had a breeding pair of FH in a 10 gallon before. My FH didnt eat the babies so it wasnt a problem. But water temp, quality is no importance for FH. They will breed in piss water. From wiggler stage, the parents did most of the feeding, but I put brine shrimp in there and they loved it.

ok , well its kinda old but here is a pic of the parents ! they are twice this size by now I have well over 100 babies from this pair !
now what im looking for is a nice yellow female or a nice blue female
if anyone has any fry to trade let me know , if anyone wants any of my babies , I am open to any and all trades , let the breeding season begin , i beleive my others are holding right now so more baby fish will be on thier way !
