Flowerhorn eggs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've attempted this twice now. I had thought that a divided pair couldn't possibly lay fertilized eggs. somehow they "got together" under the divider and I wound up with a zillion babies. I transferred them into a 20 gallon with a sponge filter then to a 100 gallon. They got large enough that they began fighting. I sold or gave away many that had showed early color and many had also died. I had to start housing some in their own ten gallon tanks as they got aggressive. I had tanks, buckets, anything that would hold water all over the house with extension cords, etc. I ended up keeping two. (One of them is now my sick patient.) What a nightmare. I'll never try to mate another pair.

Nature finds a way. I have had this happen, unless the divider is solid they can still spawn. Could you post pictures? would like to see what you have.

Tanned doesn't mean anything, you need to look for eggs with a black spot in the middle of the eggs, which doesn't develop straight away, so be patient :)

Out of interest, did your flowerhorn female go dark (blackish) with the breeding?
