I know some of you aren't Flowerhorn fans, many even loathe them. But I love this little guy and he has me concerned so I'd appreciate any feedback regarding his bowel movements.

I've started a fasting regimen for my Flowerhorn. 2 days feed, 1 day fast, repeat. This has been on going for 2 weeks now. I've had him for a month now. Originally I fed him x2 daily but I read on multiple posts that it's a good idea to fast periodically.

My concern is, on the 3rd day which is fasting day, it poops clear white... kinda clumpy. On feeding days, it has normal pellet colored poop.

Is this normal? Should I be concerned? He has a healthy monstrous appetite, not shy, playful and curious. No signs of hex, but I figured I'd post in this section just in case someone has an idea.

I feed Hikari Cichlid Bio-Gold+ mini pellets, exclusively.
Nothing else. I won't feed him anything else because I'm afraid I'll introduce worms or some other kind of health issue.

3.5" really short bodied almost bonsai
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10 (maybe less)
Temp 80°F

Thanks!

Do his feces look like they're empty or does it look like there is white mucus inside? The best way to know if he has parasites or not would be to examine his feces with a microscope.

Okay. If there had been white mucus in them it would have been more worrisome. It happens sometimes that fish poop empty "casings" when they have not eaten, but keep a close eye on him.
