I have too much flowerhorn and was wondering if I can feed them koi food instead of grandsumo. Should there be any concern with 9% fat?Screenshot_20170903-214448.png

I see zero Whole Foods in that at all.... just "meal". not healthy at all. Especially for cichlids. And that fat content is 2-3x as much as anything I feed my fish. Cichlids have a difficult time breaking down fats so that could cause bloat or digestive issues with your FH

Fatty acids are utilized as an energy source by fish, including cichlids, and they have no issue breaking it down. The problem is when too much fat is consumed, as the excess gets stored in & around the organs which can cause a condition known as fatty liver disease. This condition is very common in aquarium fish, and considered one of the main causes of death in aquarium fish. (Ruth Francis Floyd et al)

This food would be best served for younger fish, with higher metabolisms. Meals are not an issue, there are some very high quality fish meals, krill meals, etc, but I personally don't like seeing soybean meal, and certainly not dried bakery products.

Any decent quality cichlid food can be fed to FH, you don't need to feed specialty foods such as GS. To offset price, buy online in bulk.
