My flowerhorn has had its pectoral fins ripped up a little and now are starting to show whitish patches on them. It's in a 55 by itself, I've since removed the rocks and wood that were in its tank encase its hurt itself on them. There is also redness behind the pectoral fins, I'm not positive if this is colouration or something else though. It's still eating, just acting very sluggish.

I'm very inexperienced, and unsure if they are just starting to heal normal or are showing signs of fungus. Any advice is appreciated. I can get a few more pictures if needed, it seems to hold its fins close and not like to move much.

Add a liberal dose of aquarium salt.

What is the temperature of the tank?

its 78 and ive been trying to keep it steady around there, tanks in the basement and its been very cold lately. my heaters are having a hard time keeping up.. how much salt should I add per gallon? is it worth moving him to a 10gal? its that or the 55.

I never measure salt. In the 55, i would put two handfulls of salt and upp the temps a bit.
