Flowerhorn help? Mirrors and poo?

I have two related questions:

1- is it a good idea to add a mirror to my Flower horn tank ? as i heared it helps the fish to get a better and nicer color as he sees himself in there ... and this will make him think that another fish is competing with him somehow and finally this will incentevise him to show brighter coloration ???

second question is that i see the poo of the fish is white and looks like a cotton somehow ... i belive the food must be related to this i do feed him a beef heart every other day and a flower horn pellets every other day ... so is this poo color normal ? where recently the fish stopped accepting the pellets and accepting the beef heart only !
 
Poop like that is not normal it sounds like spironucleus. There is a thread on here about treating it with Epsom salt I'm going through it with good success. Beef heart is not very good for fish, hard for them to break down if you are going to feed it - it should be much less frequently a good pellet will go a long way.

i think that the process is adding mirror for just like 20-30 mins before feeding and nearly twice the day,only then will it have any effect.if u leave it in forever the fish will consider it as a mate as mine did :) and accepted it also as a mate and started to develop a feeling of no interest in it and IMO answer to ur second question is that everyone will like better food and will only consider it if he had to make a choice between good and not that good so,u should consider cutting amount of beef heart and increasing amount of pellets to beef heart only as a weekly meal

and here is the food.. i belive it is not that good one though ...the fish has grown since i bought it two three month ago ... but not the head !

i think u should better try hikari gold or sumo red or something better which contain both astaxanthin,spirulina and head booster hormone
 
imho mirror only stresses the fish.

Feed it good food saoked in garlic extract ( try to find NLS with Garlic ) to eliminate the internal parasite it has
 
consider not feeding beef heart at all...don't buy gimmicky flowerhorn foods. Anything super high in protein isn't good for your flowerhorn.
 
Adding some play time with a mirror is a good thing for cichlid kept in a tank alone (like most fh). It gives them a chance to do the natural cichlid stuff like display aggression without harming another fish. It also improves nuchal hump and color in males.
