Hey guys, I was wondering if its possible for my flowerhorn to get ich from fluctuating temps. One of my heaters broke in my 125 and dropped the temps to around the mid 70s. I usually have it at 82. Ever since my new heaters came in and raised the temps to 83 the flowerhorn got ich. Is it possible just to raise the temps to 86 and dont use salt? thanks

ich is almost always caused by fluctuating temps or new fish. Salt def helps the fish i would use it along with the temp bump

alright cool.thanks guys.yeah when i bumped the temp back up it started to get ich so i figured it was that but non of my other fish ever got it from that.alright so i should get aquarium salt and clean water?i have malachite green meds from a couple years ago but i know its super strong so im not going to use it yet

Nah I would use Aquarium Salt, Tabelsalt (assuming it is non idoized and doesn't contain caking agents/yellow pressurate), or you could grab White Crystal Solar Salt from Home Depot which comes in huge 25+ lbs bags for like $7 or so which is your best option.

ok cool.thanks chris, but now i have a bigger problem. the ich is mostly gone but its not eating nls anymore and dark.is it hex or can it still be stressed from ich?thanks guys
