This is my first one. I think it is a Red Dragon, but not sure.
He is still small, 5 inches or so,but growing fast.

Can anyone ID him?

it is indeed a red dragon. Red dragon comes from the zz (zhen zhou) strain. The one you got is very good quality. Lots of potential for him to grow into. The head looks promising and the red is pretty deep already. Feed him some good food and keep the water clean and you will have a nice fish for a long time.

wow you got a very nice one, he had a big kok... i prefer to thick flowerline.

Thanks!

I have been feeding him Hikari Gold,Ken's cichlid pellets, cichlid sticks, frozen blood worms, and have given him a couple super worms this week. I have had him for about 2 months now,and he eats like a pig. Is there anything else I should feed him? I have tried krill, but he won't touch it.

I'm not going to recommend any of the fancy flowerhorn foods because what your feeding is fine and seems to be working. There isn't a huge difference between them and a quality cichlid pellet accept for hormones and the price tag. That is strange that he won't eat krill. Did you try frozen or freeze dried? I have better look with freeze dried. I have several flowerhorns that will jump out of the water just for a piece of krill. Next time you do a kensfish order try out the "soft and moist with krill sinking pellets" I think they are in the specialty foods section. It has worked well to bring out the reds on a lot of my fish and most of them prefer it over any other food. You could also try omega one, or new life spectrum pellets. It might be a good idea to go with the 5lb. bucket of omega one for $60 when your fish starts putting on some size because I know how fast those bags of hikari can add up when you have a hungry flowerhorn.

I use NLS pellets for most of my fish and they definitely show better colors. Definitely go that route as a supplement if you can afford it. Another thing that would help put on some size on him is try Hikari Massivore pellets. Its really beefed up my fish in the past month and a half.

Looking awesome though! Love the colors! Props on an amazing fish!

About NLS pellets.. I tried it on my fish for two months & don't see any positive results yet.. maybe it's my fish, I don't know.. but I believe that NLS is good food for fish..

Freeze dried. I have a Midas that won't touch it either. But there rest of my cichlids will jump for it too. I'm not sure what is up with these 2 :screwy:.I may try soaking it in garlic to see if they will take it then.

Cool. I need to get a order in soon,I'm running low on pellets and flakes.I'll look for it. If he won't eat it,I'm sure I have enough other fish that will.

Thanks. He has come a long way in a short time. Here is a pic of him the day after I got him. For a $50 FH,he is turning out quite nicely. Gotta love them Thailand FH's!
