Hello everybody! I found this gem at the pet store I work at and decided to lug him and about 20 pounds of water home with me, on a 30 - 60 minute walk in the pouring rain and freezing cold.

I kept him warm well enough and he survived the trip perfectly fine.

I was just wondering what you guys think he is? I never thought to ask.. I just saw how pretty he was, and what he can grow to be and fell in love!

He is with 6 other Cichlids right now and I am hoping they all get along well. But if they don't, then those were some expensive feeders. From what I have seen though he isn't too aggressive, somehow my 2 or so inch Auratus was chasing him around when I introduced him LOL.

Anyways, on with the pic! I only have one right now, but I will be sure to grab more tomorrow. Right now I think his colour is a little dull because he is stressed, I hope he will start showing more colour as he grows and with the great care I am providing to my 65 gallon tank (which holds the 7 cichlids and a pleco now)

Let me know what you guys think he has going on genetic wise! I am going to ask the store Tuesday when I go in for work next.

I have two names for him, Ayahuasca or "The Clockwork Elf" so we'll see what name he ends up with ;)

Thanks again everybody!

I agree that it looks stressed. Hopefully another pic once it is settled down will help determine. I'm assuming its a ZZ, maybe a fader. And I keep saying it because i'm not entirely sure it is a male.
I'm sure some other people will be able to give you a more definitive answer. More pics please!

I'm thinking it will kill your other cichlids. It's looking female but time will tell. Just be prepared for some ultra violence from the clockwork elf:grinno:

Pictures!

I am prepared for losses... I just would love to see it succeed so I am going to try :)

Any further input is appreciated! Thanks

If he is a ZZ or a Fader, how big will it get? he is currently about 6 or 7 inches.

I have tried feeding it the hikari carnivore pellets when he was close to the top of the tank, but he/she wasn't interested.

So I picked up 15 feeder minnows and tossed em in... he has taken 4 right infront of me and a few more possibly.. there is 6 left.. but I did see my other cichlids destroying them too lol.

Thanks!
