Flowerhorn Id

Looks to be a Kamfamalau to me. As for quality I'd say it's a solid B grade. If it's flowerline wasn't segmented and was a straight line with no curve, he would atleast be an A grade. He'd also look a bit better if he wasn't stressed but that's to be expected at a pet store. Over all tho he is a nice looking FH imo, nice find.

Appreciate it. Now when you say glower line would that be the black line down the middle?

Yeah the flowerline is the horizontal line that basically cuts the fish in half. The flowerline is a trait they get from their Trimac cichlid Gene's, some FH's may even get 2 flowerlines. The second line runs across their back giving them a kind of half black look. The vertical lines that are on the FH in your pic are called stress lines. They only appear when a FH is stressed thus the name.

I'm not really that knowledgeable on identification and qualities of flowerhorn but I am interested in getting one. Could anyone id this flowerhorn for me?

That's a very beautiful fish you have. Agreewith Magnus_Bane Magnus_Bane on id but I would grade him higher (as per my personal preference).

I’m no flowerhorn expert but I think he looks pretty high quality myself. Very big nuchal hump at such a small size. I love the body shape and pearling it has already too. Congrats on an awesome fish

Thanks for the info guys. I'll probably get bashed for it but so far so good with the other fish.

It's beautiful fish in Flowerhorn world to me! Nice chubby mouth, fins are wide open, big kok (head), nice Pearly fella. Colors will be more solid once he settles down! Yes, can see some stress in the photo because he is at LFS. This guy will be stunning one day as he grows! If there are few dark spots above the main flower line, that one we call as double flowerline, can be seen in my profile pic.

Grade wise, healthier is the better, active and eat like a pig! If he falls in that category, you will enjoy that fish the most, because this fella are so interactive with their owners!

Start with clean water, proper temperature, great staple food and within few months, he might get double in the size. Most important in FH world is interaction, after feeding him, if you play for few minutes, he will have good stretching and will have great connection with you.

Please share some of the photos if you are getting him after he settled down! All the best and welcome to forum...
