Hi again.

My large male Flowerhorn wasn’t been eating for the past 2 weeks.
About a week ago I noticed his gums were red and swollen almost like they were bleeding. Then he started to form white zits on his face and body that would burst to form ulcers.
Can anyone help me diagnose him and suggest a treatment?

Thanks.

Add some salt 1 tsp per g, kanamycin, and furan2. Keep water temps down to low 70s.

I have used (as you can see from the green color of the water) and the pustules have stopped. However his lips are now huge. He has been like this FITB about a week now.

This is columnaris (AKA duck lips) a very contagious bacterial infection, by gram negative bacteria.
They are most virulent at water temps above 82'F, and need an antibiotic effective against Gram- bacteria.
Once it as gone to the stage of your last few shots, where the jaw has atrophied beyond repair, it is usually fatal.

First off, what you need is a hospital tank and get him out of that larger tank so the disease don't spread to others. Use Epsom salt and turn heater off. If you can get a hold of that fh med called "clear" I would try that. Heard good things about it. Just follow instructions on the bottle.

I had a fh that had that disease before and i tried a bunch of stuff but didnt work. So i went with metro at the end pumping it down his throat with a syringe for a few days and it worked. But at the end he was already so bad that after he was cured his face was gone from the disease eating his face for too long. I had to put him down just because his face was already gone even tho he was cured. He didnt look too good anymore. Maybe that's the way you might have to go if all else fails. Gl with him.

Thank you all for your input.
I will try metronidazole for a week and see how he goes. Otherwise will have to put him down. I have had him for 5 years. ☹
