Im doing a project on the flowerhorn for school and was wondering whats the phylum or class of the flowerhorn?
Water;5078642; said:Phylum chordata LOL I'm kidding. Flowerhorns, being hybrids can't be scientifically classed because.. well.. they're a mix of a ton of fish. You could try doing a project on some of the cichlids known to be used to create the flowerhorn though, such as as trimacs, red devils etc.

Chances are pretty good that many of the Amphilophus used in FH breeding were/are a mix of Amphilophus citrinellus, and Amphilophus labiatus.
RD.;5079683; said:Absolutely, no argument there but the reality is the vast majority of Midas/Red Devils are indeed of mixed blood. Take the best males & line breed them with the best females & you end up with the traits that will work best with a FH strain. No need to import pure fish, when you already have exactly what's required at your finger tips. The end result is koky deep bodied short faced Midevils.
