My flowerhorn is looking like it's fading. I originally thought it was fighting, but I read that (fading) is common in flowerhorns. Is this true? What will happen? Red, yellow or blue is what I read?

Thanks

Sorry crappy Iphone pics very low quality. I will try to get better ones

If it turns completely black, then its fading. It looks like yours might, you just gotta give it some more time.

^ Agreed when it finished peeling it might turn into pink or lighter or soemthing :P

Its fading, going to be on the lighter pink/yellow side. To my understanding, peeling has 2 definitions when it comes to flowerhorn. Peel as in turning black and fade into white/pink/yellow/golden color. Or peel as in turning black and once the black is washed out, it shows a more vibrant colors.

I have a question, does the fish lose its fins during the process of fading? I would really like to know. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

ha ha ha
fading is change of color only. this is because of red devil/midas genes in the fish. nothing to worry. i'm a big fan of faders and have 4 faders. as big one said the fish will get completely black and then change to a light red/orange/pink color. in some cases they will have splotches like yours. the flowerline in case of the first type changes to white along with the pearls.before
