Is it possible to get the Flowerhorn kok bigger once the fish has got to 8 inches long,, I rescued a flowerhorn from someone that had given up on her, I have got its colours back and it's eating well now,, any advise welcome as it's the first flowerhorn I have kept,

After 2 weeks I have finally got it feeding on hikari food sticks, hikari gold, hikari staple, dried mealworm, live mealworms, and live river shrimp,

Yer I know kok is based on genes, but as i don't know her genes I wanted to know if it is possible to grow the kok after fish has reached 8 inches assuming it has the the right genes,,,, and also what type of flowerhorn grow the large kok

A Flowerhorn has the kok gene or it doesn't it can vary for each fry produced and a female will not usually have a kok like a male.

There is hard kok, normal kok, and water kok. I have had all with multiple fish and my water kok Flowerhorn explode only with aggression or breeding and usually normal looking without it.

At 8l" for a female the kok has little room in it to grow

She is about 9 inches, if I was to try and breed them would I have problems because the female should be half the size of the male shouldn't it
