hey all since joining mfk and always checking out other peoples fish i have become real interested in flowerhorns,,,i am about to buy 1 if not 2,,but i have some questions,,i always see the tanks seperated..y is this for breeding or can 2 fh not go together at all....what about the dishes or plated i always seee in tanks is that 4 there food any insight would help i have visited fhus forum and i am still a lil up in the air about those other questions..any help would be great i love those guys thanx

The plate is for breeding they like a flat service to do this on. You see them in dividers a lot because many people get very addicted and keep more than one. They can be kept in small spaces while young up to middle age, but should be givin at least 55 gallons of space of their own once they reach 6-8''
You can keep two together, but it should only be done in very large spaces and you had better have some other fish in there as well. Still this would be something to do at your own risk because a good percentage of the time it will not work, and either way you will get a bit of fighting here and there. When they breed like most cichlids courtship can be rough, even more so with the horn's so just be aware. You got to take some licks that's just how it is. Some personal advice for you. If you are going to get one don't sell yourself short and go cheap route buying a low grade fish. Spend the money get a decent one. In the long run you will be much more pleased and hooked for life hahahah;) I hope I helped? Also hope Mod's do not get mad at me for this, but @ Flowerhornrusforum.com you will be able to find info and much answers for you being a newbie that will be able to help you start your new undertaking good luck bro:headbang2

I run around flowerhornrus.. We got fish for sale there too. Mostly FHs. You wanna buy a FH? I got a nice male right now I want to get rid of..

Flowerhorns and Parrots might interbreed. As a matter of fact, thats how a lot of Kamfas come to be. Parrots are less likely to fight amongst themselves, largely due to the shape of their small mouth...incapable of doing serious injury.

ok cool lets get that trade going phong

o and by the way thanx alot bastard fish

if together it must be male and female and they should hit it of in 48 hrs. if not its trouble . This is my expirience.
