This flowerhorn is in a hospital tank after I just got it it got beat up pretty bad. Ive seen him eat a little blood worms before but the other day I but it in and he left it so I think the filter took it up. When I throw food in there he comes up to check it out but the swims away from it like he was hoping for something else. And the previous owner being shady will not let me know what he use to feed it. What should I do? Should I be worried? What to know or think about situation?

1. Turn the temp up to 30 degree celcius

2. Dont feed him for a day

3.Feed him pellets soaked in bloodworm

4. IF he doesnt eat, start adding a bit of salt. Again dont feed it for a day.

5. Feed it pre soaked pellets in bloodworms

6. If he doesnt eat again its time to have it dewormed.

By all means if starving it doesn't work. Try deworming it see how it works. If your fish actually swims up and look at the food and just took off. Starving should do the trick. From what I've seen, usually fish not eating due to worms would never care to even take a look at what you throw in there for them. Just another typical stubborn FH you have.

deworming? how would you even do that? Yea im thinking it is stubborn the reason why it got beat up is because it kept starting fight with a fish much bigger than it and wouldnt back down even after it got torn up

Good suggestions, my FH is a picky eater. He could just be stubborn.

Yea thats what I have been keeping the temp at flowerhorn has been eatting like a champ and healing pretty quickly

Keep in mind that if your fish is a ZZ, best to keep it with high 70's temp only. Only touch the 80's zone for any starving or healing process. And the reason is because your fish metabolism will run much faster, therefore you feed it more, and in result it lead your fish to end its life quicker than usual.
