So I've been trying REALLY hard to document everything I do with my flowerhorns. I feel thats its especially important with flowerhorns because if I ever need to backtrack I have something to fall back on. Also with flowerhorns (at least mine) I don't know the specific geneology of the fish before I got them. Heres some pics and some vids of what I have...

My female from Thailand...She's small but fierce, she definitely tries to boss the male around. They bonded, then she laid only maybe 50 eggs. To me, she was laying and he wasn't fertilizing so she stopped. Eventually she ate those eggs and I bonded him with a different female I have. I now have them back together trying to get a spawn.

My male from Thailand. He's grown up with me and he's turning into a little tank. Sometimes he acts so uninterested in females it worries me. But now that he has a spawn under his belt I feel much better about him.

A Vid of them messing around...Apparently I'm limited to 1 vid per post so I'll post a couple others afterwards.

This is the female that I bonded with him after the first pairing didn't work out. I already knew she was fertile and at this point I was starting to have doubts that he was. They bonded and spawned within days of meeting each other, without a divider. I now have their fry growing out in a seperate tank.

You can see I slowly had to add stuff for cover because they've already started chasing each other around. You can't see in these pics but 1/2 of them have kind of an electric blue hue to them, might be the lighting might not be. I love this spawn, I'm slowly but surely turing into a flowerhorn enthusiast whereas before I started of being a purist.

More vids to come, I actually have a new pair that I'm growing out as well...

Here is my newest pair. They're growing out and you can actually see the divider I have in place. The divider I made for this 40 breeder was actually a little small and for fish this size they can get around one side. I have that fake plant I made from Michael's on either side to keep them out but the female actually found a way around. She goes back and forth to show off for him. I'm hoping if they grow up together they will have less problems spawing in the future...

Man your male is a very beautiful fish. I would be proud to own that guy. You have documented their spawns very well. Can't wait to see the fry grown out are you planning on keeping the best of the bunch?

Thanks! Your praise is really appreciated. So what I've done with my Salvini spawns is to breed and cull only the top maybe 5-10% before I started doing anything with them. Here's a couple pics of some of the spawns I've had...I figure if I approach flowerhorns the same way only good things can happen. 1 thing I'm really interested in doing is mixing lines with each other to try to make something of my own.

These are all females, usually they carry more red and less blue and I've been trying to get more and more blue into them.

Seems like you've got a good game plan in order. It'll be cool to see if you can manipulate your bloodlines into producing more blue offspring. Can't wait to see your progress with the salvini's but to tell you the truth I'm more interested in the flowerhorns :naughty:

Oh you didn't realize the Salvini are in the plans
;)
Hush hush
