I picked this flowerhorn up for $10.00. It's looking pretty nice as it gets bigger. Let me know what you think. An i.d. would be helpful too! What grade/type etc. Pictures aren't that great, he would not stay still. I believe it's male?

Thanks for the reply. I think the camera flash and the fact that I just completed a water change had him all charged up. He attacks the gravel filter and anything else that you put in the tank!
yep, ZZ. Does look a little dark. Could also be substrate. Bright tanks tend to bring out the colors in FH.
Stress fish as said above. But overall, for a $10 fish. It seems to be okay for the price. Not something that is really great for a Red ZZ. But it isn't bad either. Nice fish...
Just let it relax and keep the lights off for a couple days. He has stress bars. I agree, he does look pretty stressed. But for $10 that's a good deal.
Thanks for the posts. I am going to put him in my 150 soon. He's one rowdy SOB. We'll see how he reacts to my other cichlids. Luckily I have more than one tank if there is a problem.
