My new flowerhorn male
he is about 5" long right now i know he isnt near show quality or anything but i love his coloring and he has a really cool personality

i was wondering is there a possibility his KOK will get any bigger or does it look like a hard KOK?
feeding him both red and green grand sumo and his kok has already grown a little but will it get big at all?

thank you!

You will NEVER be able to make a FH with a hard kok grow a water kok. It's all in the genetics! Don't buy into crap like Grandsumo or Chingmix. Fish aren't meant designed to digest mammalian meat so feeding heart, liver, meat or anything that comes from a mammal is bad for it. Feed aa quality pellet. Hell, even Hikari staple is better than feeding GS or CM. Switch to NLS pellets. If ANYONE tries to tell you feeding GS and Chingmix will make your fish grow a water kok, thats a load of bull. If your fish has the genetics for it, it will grow one.

As for your fish, it has a water kok. It MAY grow a semi water kok but don't count on it. In most ZZ's, they will show whether or not they will have a water kok by 3". After that it's very seldom that they get water koks.

all i will say is your fish is a nice one and will be nicer later. I dont know what ure expecting of the kok but it will be a nice fish. Head will not be huge but decent enough to fit him as a nice fish. Not water kok.

He is quite a looker still with those colors and it looks like he has a nice tail and finage too. NLS is some great stuff, my flowerhorns have been chowing down on it quite well.
