I got my flowerhorn a few days ago as seen on my other thread. She was doing fine, a little dark, but seemed happy and would come greet me when I came by the tank. I moved my tank lastnight to the living room and since then she was a little more scared than usual, which I understand.

But today i went up to the tank and I started feeding her some bloodworms. A bit of water got dripped on the front glass and when I went to wipe it off she darted around all scared and hid in the corner. I went out for the afternoon and when I get home I walk into the living room past the tank and see her dart all the way back to the corner. I go over to the corner she is in and she darts to the other side of the tank. Now she is completely dark and seems very scared.

I know the moving of the tank must have been stressful she was in a bucket for about a half hour, but she seems more scared now than she was right after the move. How long will it take her to calm down and come greet me again? Is there anything I can do to help the situation? I liked it better when she would swim towards me instead of darting away.

Turn off the light for a week, and completely cover up the tank if you can so make it as dark as possible. Some flower horn is not use to the bright light or new environment. Don't feed it for 3 days too. Once it is hungry and come out for food, then it will be normal again or have some feeder or some other fish in there with it, will help too.

It seems you are the only person who ever responds to any of my questions. Thanks. How long have you had your FH?
Just trying to help out.. :)
I just had my new juvenile fh a few days ago.. but has been in this hobby since mid last year.. My first flowerhorn & also the longest with me has some deformities.. it died last month due to contaminated salt & I did not realize it until it was way too late.. I lost a couple of other fishes too..

Give it some time, bro..
Mine does the same...
Try to approach the tank slowly & don't make any sudden movement when feeding..

Some fish are a little more sensitive to being moved and traffic areas. Was she originally in a low or high traffic area? And is the room bigger / smaller? I think she will get used to her new home in a few days and I also agree with leaving the lights off for a few days minus the tank covering up. Leaving the tank dark but uncovered will give her a chance to see where she now lives without being in the spotlight, she is in a corner for privacy.

yep, the wiping of the glass with a cloth/towel or napkins will do it every time, especially when they are new to the tank. Just wait, it will be back to normal...
