I moved my 4 inch Flowerhorn to a larger tank, by himself. While before the move, I net him and place him into a fish bag with water and tied it up. He was in the bag for about an hour. The reason why it took a while, is because I had to move the tank setup he was in to a different area in the livingroom, then move his new tank into the spot his old one is at.
The move was done on Monday, today is Thursday, and he is still bottom sitting and sulking. Also he sometimes freaks out when I get close to his tank and not really eating. The last time he ate was on Tuesday, while also was being cautious around me while eating. He came up yesterday to try to grab a pellet that I dropped in, but darted quickly to the other side of the tank while after missing the pellet.
Water perimeters are normal, Ammonia 0, nitrite 0, and nitrates under 10 ppm. I did a 50% water change on Tuesday night and a 25% yesterday. Hoping to help boost his hunger. This morning he is still sulking. I place a mirror next to his tank, in hoping to get him aggressive and up again. He came slowing towards the mirror. I left the mirror. Will see if he is a bit more active when I get back in a few hours. I was also thinking about getting a plant pot for him to hide in. Right now the tank only has gravel.
Anyone experience the same thing before? What did you do? Do you just wait it out? I was thinking about trying live food and see if that gets him going again, but then again I don't like using them as they might carry diseases and parasites. Never had to deal with a sulking this long.
