Hi! So two days ago I started to notice that my 3 year old flowerhorn was developing the cloudy eye symptom. I haven’t seen him with it since last time he got really sick, so I immediately began to check for white stringy poop, physical injuries, and unnatural behaviour. His colour and everything is fine though. I’ve done a water change and he’s fine, I’ve been using the same food and haven’t been changing it for a year already (hikari sinking cichlid gold) and water temp seems to be all normal. What could possibly be the cause for cloudy eye? Is it possible that he has the symptom but no disease or injury? Answer back when possible, thank you MFK community for always having my back :)

Cloudy eye usually is a sign of poor water quality or damage. Changing water is definitely the best way to heal imo. I would continue to do water changes and do 30-50 percent instead of the 11-20 percent. Are there any decorations or sharp objects that the flowerhorn could have been damaged by? Also you mentioned that this flowerhorn had cloudy eye before? I’m assuming that the water quality was not up to par. Did you test water and if so what were the parameters? kno4te kno4te is an expert in this area so he could probably help!

Wouldn’t say I’m an expert. But see it a lot. Have to check ur water parameters. Could be from bad water or low ph. I’m mean time increase ur water changes to 50% twice a week. What’s the decor n the tank?

There is no decor, our substrate is aquarium rocks, just the little ones. We usually put books outside his tank where he hides and sleeps sometimes.

No decor, just aquarium rock substrate, he’s never seem to hurt himself with them before. Alright thanks for the info I’ll def start doing 50%. I don’t have a kit but I’ll have to order one and ship it (whenever it comes because of the pandemic). Hopefully this works out, thanks!

If you can increase the water changes. The percent and how often then it’ll help. There numerous causes but the water better taken care of and i have a feeling it’ll go away. Keep us updated.
