I have a 125g that I'm setting up for a flowerhorn. I was hoping to keep a pleco with him. Do I need to have the pleco in the tank before the flowerhorn is put in? The FH is already like 11 inches or more. Assuming I got a foot long pleco, with a cave for him to hide in. Chances of survival?

Thanks
Cory

If he has a cave to hide in, I'd say the chances are pretty good. You never know with cichlids though. The FH could totally ignore him, or he could totally destroy him.

Depends on the fish mine chaced my pleco around then the pleco chased back.

All of mine live with Plecos, just give the Pleco a place to hide and make sure he wont fit in the Flower Horns Mouth. If he will fit in its mouth all bets are off.

flowerhorns are very territorial and they would see the pleco as an intruder. i therefore discourage you from keeping the 2 of them in the same tank

I have never seen my flower horn chase around my pleco. He is too busy chasing around all of the barbs and my JD.
