Flowerhorn with protruding anus.

So while turning on all the lights for my tanks I noticed that the 3 1/2 inch male Zhu Zhu Flowerhorn that I keep in a 20 long with three female convicts has something that he didn't last night. It appears as though his intestines are protruding from out of his anus. I did not feed any tanks yet since this was supposed to be a water change day, so I don't know what his appetite is. Besides that he's apparently fine from what I can visibly see....besides that butt problem of course. I'll try to get some decent pictures of him. If the pictures are too hard to tell/crap I'll just get some out of water pics.

Th only picture I can see something is the last one. That being said is it a known male or your assuming its a male? That my friend is a female most likely from the black dorsal spot and that thing protruding is her breeding tube it looks like.

She wants to lay eggs looks like maybe with one of your other fish.

Also show us pictures with the convicts. I am almost 100 percent sure thats a breeding tube and shes ready to spawn. If you post pics of the convicts I can tell you the sex.

Its either shes trying to spawn or its pheromones since many female cons will lay eggs and in the water it can stimulate other fish to lay eggs as well. Its an old school trick to get others to breed. I've used it in the past and works like a charm.

I know that all three convicts are 100% female. I assume that the Flowerhorn was male due to attempting to brewed with damm near any female CA cichlid that it shared a tank with. I'll take your word on it though. Rather have it be a female than something horrible that could possibly kill the fish lol.

Flowerhorns will breed with cons but they can be picky. Its most likely a breeding tube. Just leave it alone it will go away within a week and if it doesn't and acts different its a prolapse.

Never mind this is most definitely a relapse. Took a closer look and it's breeding tube is down, but that's not it. There's a bright red bulge hanging right behind the tube where the anal fin starts.

There's some better pics. I've read RD's sticky about doing a week long espom salt bath along with reduced feedings. I'll try that, but I want another opinion just to be 300% sure.

yup that looks like a prolapse there. These can be tricky. to start I would deworm her and add salt.
