Got a new flowerhorn today for $70 what a steal. Anyways it was labeled “kamfa” but it doesn’t look like it. More of a hybrid of two different types maybe zz? Can anyone tell me for sure? Hopefully he grows up to be fertile and i could breed him with my female srd

I think ya hit the nail on the head with that Kamfa x ZZ Red Dragon mix. Atleast that's what it looks like to me. Very nice looking tho, very good color and body definition. Personally the only thing I would try to change is just to slow down that kok growth. A well defined kok is nice to look at but ya don't want it getting too big otherwise it'll cause problems down the road so to speak. Lol granted there is almost nothing ya can do really to change it's growth rate other then feeding less often and blocking it's view of other animals. Only reason I mention to watch that kok growth is just to hopefully have ya avoid the same situation I had with my original breeder male (Jr.), He was a Petco ZZ that I got that grew a literal baseball on his forehead. His kok was so big that it made it very hard for him to control his own swimming along with prevent him from eating from the surface or bottom of the tank. His forehead stretched out a good 1-1½inch infront of his mouth so it would push his food away from him, he had to pile the food up into a corner of the tank just to be able to feed himself. And don't even get me started on how many scars he gave himself on that massive knob of his lol.

Yeah haha i’ll try to control it to the best of my abilities. I never liked the HUGE kok look, made the fish look way too unnatural. Almost like a tumor haha. I just really hope he ends up being fertile. Would love his genes mixed with my srd?

I personally don't mind the look it's just what comes with it that I don't like. Btw what's your female look like? Got any pics?

This here is a pic of Jr when I still had him. Least to say his kok was beyond unhealthy in size.
