I'm buying flowerhorn babies from this guy here are the parents.

The babies are 5$ each, and are about 2.5" I'm going to hand pick the ones I want so is there anyway I will be able to tell which ones will look good when they grow up? Or is it just a pick and wish for the best. I'm probably going to get 10 or so.

At that size it is is hard to tell. Just look for ones with developing color and good flower lines. Hope for the best you will get at least one good looking one! Good luck selecting the best bro!

Thank you for the link, The guy i'm buying from told me that there is one male that is basicly outgrowing all the others and is the boss of the tank So I Will be sure to pick him as my top choice. I'm hopeing I get a pair out of this.

Wellp, I went to go pick 10 up and he ended up giving me all of them 20-30. There are about half females half males from what i can tell ( half being small other hlaf being huge)

even at a small size, usually you can tell which ones are better then the others. try to get some with good metalic coloring or else it'll end up mostlikely either just red or a really plain color.
