Flowerhorns and pool filter sand

Does anyone use pfs in their Flowerhorn tanks? I'm thinking about using it, but I'm worried that the light colored sand will fade my Flowerhorn's colors.

Is there different colors of pfs? What brand do you use? I love the price of $10 for a 50 pound bag.

What I meant by fading is lightening up, or bleaching. Which leaves them very light in color.

They will be lighter but this will make reds and blues pop more, when they are darker the reds get thwarted


Not sure the brand I have, was the only brand at the local pool place

It came in natural and white. I'm sure they make other colors. I'm happy with it no issues, some people complained about algie blooms from the sand but I haven't had any at all.

Agreed is fine to use, my Kirins looked great over it and my RD looked great over general white.
