i know its a very bad idea but im about to clear out my 125gal tank... and having 1 flowerhorn in there is ok but i kinda want a pair.. or something maybe test out the breeding grounds while im at it but its hard to find a Female Flowerhorn thats nice too.

I keep my pair in a 75 with no divider. Most of the time they are fine. The male chases the female from time to time when he is in the mood and she is not, but that is about it.

my red dragon FH is about 6 inches at the moment i think im gonna pick up a female here.. sometime soon gonna go to a local buyer who has a female for DIRT cheap like 50 dollars CAD lol so you guys think its okay? to have a pair? male and female?

ive had a male and female flowerhon together and the females sucked both the eyes out from the male and it died. they are very territorial so id say its 50/50. you can try using eggshell crates and split the tank. that way you can keep both and when the female wants to breed you can release them.

If you only want a pair just eggcrate the middle and split the tank. You could get two really tame FH's and not even need it who knows.

Yes nice females are hard to find but worth it to find a nice one rather than breeding sub-par..

you got a point lol i wonder where im gonna find these egg crates.. and i got a pretty big tank lol 6ft long by 20 inch width by 26inch height

"Egg crates" are actually light diffusers used for flourescent lighting and can be found in many hardware stores. They should be more than enough for your sized tank since you only need to go 20 inch wide by 26 inch high, just need to be trimmed down (I use pliers and clip away.)

You can also look for vinyl coated hardware cloth (I just learned about this on the simplydiscus forums).

As for keeping them in place, you can use suction cups (like for your heaters or you can buy some made for dividers - someone on this website even suggested using ones he found in a hardware store to hold shower curtains or something like that) on each side to hold them in place or silicone it in place (which means you got to drain the tank and let it cure).

if you raise them together from less than 4" can they be kept together or with tankmates like dats, wolfish and plecos, or are they too agressive?
