I have owned two FH's (and still have one). Both have been extremely interactive, tame fish. Both instantly came to the front of the tank, begging for food. One of them was even relatively happy to be touched. My large FH definately is a bit territorial when I gravel vac and do maintenance in his tank (and will bite me if he can), but in general is a very mellow customer (so long as he is kept on his own !).

However, I also have a large red devil, which has a completely different character. He charges the glass if anyone gets too near. Definately in a territorial, aggressive way. So he is also interactive, but in a very different way !

Do some FH's get to be like my RD ? I am thinking that I much prefer the interaction I get with my FH, and am considering moving the RD on, and replacing it with another FH. But I Would be a bit disappointed to get another glassbanger.
So, just wondering how many of you have glassbanger FH's ?

Most flowerhorns will hate you. They will usually claim the entire tank along with about 5 feet around the tank as their territory.
IMO, FH's go above and beyond the aggression of a Rd/Midas. My 2 guys are all about dominance in their tank.
Have a look at my 2 FH cherry blossom and sangria in my threads. They are both evil. But i couldnt ask for more personable, playful, aggressive, entertaining fish. Which is why I love flowerhorns.

Totally depends on the individual fish, it can go either way.

Yup I agree with ^

Flowerhorns all have their own character. I have tame and I have killers. Normally my females are killers, I have only had 1 extremely aggressive male. I had a female named Valkyrie that would wait for my male to attempt to fertilize the eggs and then try to bite his peepee. Sick fish...

+1
My previous fh tried to attack me during water changes but hid away in a corner when someone walked past the tank..
But the red dragon I have now is completely different, he hides when I do water change but always curious when someone walks past the tank..

It does depend on the individual fish but they're like dogs it just depends how you raise them. I'll say that some strains are crazier than others though. Kamfa are typically the most aggressive and show the strangest behavior of flowerhorn types IMO.

Sounds more like a Lorena than a Valkyrie lol.

lol

If I get a glass banger then I am happy about it. The reason is because the more aggressive they are, the more chance they will grow their maximum potential of their gene. Especially their nuchal hump wise...aggression makes a big difference on their nuchal hump growth.
