i decided it's time to give the biological filtration on my 120 a boost. I've managed to acquire a 3ft fluidized bed sand filter so I've been doing my reading and they look to be great once you get the flow rates sorted out and providing they don't get clogged with junk. These two things are governed by one another, efficient pre-filter, more likely hood of the flow rate being restricted. So i'm curious to know what everyone else is using with theirs, cleaning, maintenance etc. Whats an acceptable amount of junk for these things? 400mircon pre filter? 100? Looking forward to hearing other peoples advice on this.

Cheers

Most setups I've seen use a sponge on the intake. You could use a hydro 2 filter on the pump intake. that would definitely be enough.
