i got a used fluval 204. I was running it and after a while i noticed a small leak, so i took it apart. the seal looks good and i didn't notice any cracks but i didn't look very hard. So i put it back together and vasolined the seal and hooked it back up and ran it for about an hour and in about 1 hour it leaked about 2 inches of water out of my 90g (not the only type of filter). so i took it and now it sits. can you help me with the leaking problem.

Sorry forgot to say. It's out of the side by the handle on the sponge side. It seemed sealed and I used vasoline also. I will look in a little bit for a crack but from what I saw It didn't look like one was there.

sorry meant to post earlier but didn't i looked at the filter very hard and i even had my girlfriend look at it and we didn't see a crack anywhere. I have cleaned the seal and tried all different types of stuff to help seal it, like vasoline and cooking oil. none of that worked. So i bought some silicone from lfs and put it on the seal and let it sit for 6 hours then tried it. it worked for about 5 minutes then it started leaking again. I found where it is leaking but its hard to describe. Its coming out of these holes that were made there right in the handles of the canister part. so i really am not sure where it is exact because it can run through all of those groove on the top of the canister. I am completely lost can someone please help. im letting it sit for 24 hours with silicone on it so it can cure longer. hopefully this works. i am half temped to just by a new canister and then sell or trade this for a different brand.

thanks, i was always told their amazing filters. this thing leaks so bad. i wish i would have gotten something else. i kind of want to smash it with a hammer. but i have to much money in it.
