A friend of mine gave me his fluval 304 and its missing a few parts. The parts its missing would be the aqua stop valve, hosing, intake and the output nozzle. I could only find spare parts for the 305 though. Would the 305 parts work on the 304? and also i managed to open the canister (had a hard time) but now i cant seem to be able to close it. Any advice on how to close it?

The 304 is a very old filter...I think it is discontinued and so parts would be hard to come by. The parts for the 305 will not work for the 304.
After looking a bit more i managed to find some 304 parts but they cost about 7$ more than the 305 parts. Only thing is im not going to order them till i figure out how to close this thing back up again. haha
put the rubber O ring on the top of the filter. you can use petrolium jelly. it makes it easy to slide on. without it the ring wants to roll back off. place directly over canister and push down. flip the clips and your done.
Why would your friend give u a canister without the aqua stop valve? If it is just hosing, intake and outtake, it would make sense as you can easily obtain them.
I've tried placing the O ring where i think its supposed to go and its not working out but when i take the ring out it slides in perfectly. Im probably being stupid and placing the O ring in the wrong place. Hey would you explain what you mean when you say the top of the filter.
I have no idea why its missing the stop valve but you know its a free filter and i honestly need it for my tank. Just have to get these parts but i dont know if its worth ordering them and then turns out the filter doesnt work or something like that.
