I want some extreme filtering on my 55gal for the crystal clear show tank water look. Which setup would you reccomend?

Fluval 305 180$
Rena XP3 190$
The Ocean Clear setup in the pic below(750gph pump) 120$

All input of everyone experienced with these filters is very much appreciated.!

xp3 deffenitly over the 305. But if you can get that ocean clear set up and it all works and doesnt leak. And you know how to plumb stuff your self. You really cant beet those set ups. exspecially if it comes with the return pump.

I'd go with two other filters. The marineland c-360 $179 after rebate or cheaper from some sources if I remember or eheim 2217 $170.00.

xp3 much cheaper than that..look around and youll see em for 40 plus less.

id vote that way but thats cuz i love those filters and they are silent

I had the 305 on my heavily stocked african tank... wasn't near adequate. Went to the FX5 and things are clear and shiny now!

xp3 unless you know a lot about the oceanclear.
my 204 got sold since my 304 leaked
my 304 leaked
and my 404 broke and went to teh garbage.

You are talking to someone that used to use a lot of hagen products and now I do not due to quality issues.
Go with either Rena or Marineland for fish equipment IMO.

I have two XP3s, and I'm not real impressed with their mechanical filtration capabilities. They are very dependable though. If you go with an XP3, I would use it mainly for bio and get an AC110 for mechanical.

I would get the xp3, and you can buy them brand new online for around 130-140

Okay. I was thinking about the Ocean Clear though just for the fact that it is a crazy amount of mechanical and bio for a 55 gallon. And i mean they are 170$ a piece so it's a steal?
