Just wondering..... Does the fluval 305 put enough oxygen into the water for the fish??? My Oscars are constantly opening and closing their mouths. Does that mean they are not getting enough air??? They are in a 60, with a 305 running by itself. Water is crystal clear, and parameters are all right. Any help please???

Most species of fish have to open and close their mouths constantly to breath lol. If you are worried, you could put an airbubbler in the tank.

an airbubbler wouldnt hurt and they look nice on a bubble wand. but i dont think canister filters create enough surface agitation, but im not sure because i dont have canister filters.

That's my biggest complaint of canister filters. Lack of surface agitation. You can adjust the output to increase surface agitation, or add a bubble wand.

Just because the water is clear doesn't mean it has O2 in it. You need to move water to get oxygen. A bubbler is fine , I also use a 450gph submersible pump in the corner pointing up at a 45 degree angle to push water from the bottom to the top. That way you don't get any ammonia or nitrite pockets in any dead water areas.
